Riyadh, Saudi Arabia- April 28, 2025: The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has signed a SAR 200m contract with Sultan Logistics to establish a new logistics zone at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, marking a significant step in enhancing the Kingdom’s logistics infrastructure. Spanning 197,000 square metres, the logistics zone is designed to boost port competitiveness, increase operational efficiency, and elevate the quality of logistics services, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030.

The agreement was formalised by Mr. Mazen bin Ahmed Al-Turki, Acting President of the Saudi Ports Authority, and Mr. Ali Sultan Al-Qahtani, Chairman of Sultan Logistics, in the presence of several officials. The logistics zone will feature 35,000 square metres of warehouses, administrative offices, a yard for dry and refrigerated container storage and maintenance, and a re-export area to facilitate commercial movement and enhance service quality. These facilities are expected to strengthen King Abdulaziz Port’s competitive edge, promote specialised logistics services, and promote greater private sector participation in support of economic diversification.

This initiative is part of Mawani’s broader efforts to establish logistics zones within and beyond Saudi ports, positioning the Kingdom as a global logistics hub. In 2024, Mawani oversaw the launch, cornerstone laying, and inauguration of eight logistics zones and centres, attracting private sector investments totalling nearly SAR 2.9 billion. These projects contribute to a network of over 20 logistics centres under development, with total investments exceeding SAR 10 billion. A notable milestone was the inauguration of Maersk’s largest global logistics investment at Jeddah Islamic Port, valued at SAR 1.3 billion and covering 225,000 square metres.

The development of the new logistics zone at King Abdulaziz Port underscores Mawani’s commitment to providing high-efficiency logistics services and supporting national development goals. By fostering strategic partnerships with the private sector, Mawani continues to drive innovation and growth in Saudi Arabia’s logistics sector, reinforcing its role as a core player in the global supply chain.
