23 May 2024: His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated the new Glass Technology solar glass manufacturing facility in the Al Ghail Industrial Area, a part of the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zones Authority (RAKEZ).

The state-of-the-art facility, spanning approximately 113,000 square metres, represents an investment of AED 350 million. It aims to produce specialised solar glass for around 5.5 million solar modules annually, primarily for the European market, and is expected to create 200 new jobs in the emirate.

During the inauguration ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi laid the foundation stone for the factory, underscoring the strategic importance of the industrial sector to the UAE's national economy. He emphasised the sector's role in enhancing the country’s competitiveness, driving economic diversification, and supporting sustainable development as outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030 framework.

During the ceremony His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi stated, “The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah will continue its efforts to harness all the capabilities for the growth and prosperity of the industrial sector, in line with its future aspirations aimed at building a strong, flexible and sustainable economy, and supports its comprehensive development path.”

Looking ahead, Glass Technology FZ-LLC has ambitious expansion plans, including the potential addition of a second furnace to significantly boost production capacity. This expansion aligns with their strategy to scale operations and explore new markets, ensuring long-term growth and sustainability.

The inauguration of this facility marks a significant milestone in Ras Al Khaimah’s ongoing efforts to enhance its industrial sector, attract global investments, and establish itself as a leading global destination for high-tech and sustainable manufacturing industries.
