InstaVolt Unveils the UK’s Largest Ultra-Rapid Charging Superhub in Winchester

24 March 2025: InstaVolt, one of the largest rapid charging networks in the UK, has officially opened the Winchester Superhub, the largest and most advanced ultra-rapid EV charging hub in the UK. Strategically positioned near the A34 and junction 9 of the M3, this cutting-edge facility marks a significant step forward in EV charging infrastructure, offering drivers fast, reliable, and sustainable charging solutions.

The Winchester Superhub features 44 ultra-rapid chargers, each delivering up to 160kW of power, ensuring fast and efficient charging for a wide range of electric vehicles. Designed for maximum accessibility, the site includes drive-through bays for larger vehicles and towing setups, extra-long van bays for commercial EV users, and dedicated accessible charging spaces to accommodate all drivers.

For the first time, InstaVolt has integrated on-site solar energy generation and battery storage technology into a charging hub. The solar farm, consisting of 870 solar panels, will work alongside a 4MWh battery storage system and renewable grid power to ensure optimal efficiency and reduced grid dependency. This innovation not only enhances charging reliability but also supports InstaVolt’s commitment to lowering public charging costs and promoting EV adoption.

In an official press release by InstaVolt, Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, stated, “The Winchester Superhub isn’t just a charging hub – it’s a flagship site that sets a new standard for ultra-rapid EV charging. As our largest and most advanced site to date, it delivers industry-leading reliability at an unprecedented scale, ensuring drivers can charge quickly and with confidence.

“This site is also a milestone in innovation, marking our first-ever location where we are generating our own renewable energy – pushing the boundaries of sustainability and self-sufficiency in EV charging.

“Above all, we are redefining what EV drivers can expect when they charge, seamless, ultra-rapid, and future-proofed charging that makes the switch to electric easier, faster, and more accessible than ever before.”

The Winchester Superhub represents InstaVolt’s mission to accelerate EV adoption by addressing key challenges such as range anxiety, charging affordability, and accessibility. By combining ultra-rapid charging with a renewable energy model and driver-friendly amenities, this groundbreaking site is set to become a landmark EV charging destination in the UK.
