In an official press release by the company, Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India stated, “Our customers remain at the centre of everything we do! BMW Group India is redefining luxury with class-leading comfort, performance and aesthetics. The landmark of achieving the highest-ever half-year, quarter as well as June sales is a culmination of the company’s strategic steps. Whether it is the appeal of sheer driving pleasure or sustainable mobility, every product launched this year is extremely desirable and in tremendous demand. Most importantly, the highly emotional, digital experience of our brands is a clear distinguisher. Exclusive experiences like Joytown and The House of Forwardism have strengthened the connect with existing customers and are bringing new ones closer. We are glad to achieve this milestone and will keep on strengthening the foundations for future success.”
In the electric luxury segment, BMW Group India maintains its leading position, thanks to its impressive and diverse electric portfolio, which includes the BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i4, and MINI SE. During the period from January to June 2023, BMW Group India experienced a remarkable increase in electric vehicle deliveries, recording eleven times more sales compared to the same period in 2022. Particularly, the BMW iX emerged as the top-selling battery electric vehicle in the Indian luxury car market, bolstering the company's standing. One of the key factors contributing to this success is the exceptional charging infrastructure provided by the BMW Group Dealer Network in 35 cities, catering to the premium segment.
BMW achieved its best-ever sales, totalling 5,476 units, representing a notable growth of 5%. Among these sales, BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) made a significant contribution, accounting for over 50% of the total volumes. The recently introduced BMW X1 made a substantial impact in its segment, garnering the highest-ever number of bookings since its launch. The order pipeline for the BMW X1 for the upcoming months remains robust, indicating sustained demand. Additionally, the forthcoming launch of the new BMW X5 is expected to further enhance the momentum in SAV sales. The recently introduced BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine dominated the sedan market, achieving the status of the best-selling sedan with an impressive sales share of nearly 20%.
BMW Group India's performance during the first half of 2023 stands as a testament to the company's unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in the automotive industry. With record-breaking sales across all three brands – BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad – the company has showcased its unparalleled ability to capture and cater to diverse market segments, including the electric luxury sector.
