19 July 2024: Integrals Power, a next-generation battery nano-material company, has launched production of high-performance Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate (LMFP) cathode active materials at its state-of-the-art pilot plant in the UK. This significant milestone is set to accelerate domestic battery production and contribute to the achievement of net-zero emissions.
The establishment of manufacturing in the UK not only strengthens the domestic battery industry but also reduces the carbon footprint, enhances supply chain security and transparency, while mitigating geopolitical challenges like import tariffs on EVs and their components. Integrals Power’s LFP materials have been verified as ultra-high purity through third-party analysis using advanced X-ray diffraction technology to examine critical attributes such as chemical composition and molecular lattice structure, essential for the material's performance in battery cells.
Following successful laboratory trials, Integrals Power has launched the UK's first pilot plants specifically designed to produce proprietary high-performance LFP and LMFP nanomaterials. The new facility boasts an annual capacity of 20 tonnes, equivalent to powering 250 electric cars. These materials will primarily be used for evaluation by cell suppliers, battery, and vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
The commencement of production at Integrals Power's new pilot plant signifies a major milestone, allowing the company to manufacture high-performance LFP and LMFP cathode active materials on a large scale. This facility is among the first of its kind in the UK and provides the advanced resources necessary for the sustainable growth of the UK's battery industry and electromobility.
The flexibility and scalability designed into the pilot plant from the beginning allow for the manufacturing of different grades of Lithium Iron Phosphate nanomaterials to meet various applications, from long-range electric vehicles to off-grid energy storage. Additionally, the plant's design supports the ability to increase capacity to meet demand from customers both in the UK and globally.
Integrals Power's new pilot plant represents a transformative step forward for the UK battery industry. By pioneering the production of high-performance LFP and LMFP cathode active materials, Integrals Power is not only advancing technological innovation but also bolstering the UK's position in the global battery market.
