06 May 2025: Audi is introducing two new plug-in hybrid versions of the A6: the Audi A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro and the Audi A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro, as part of a pioneering move towards sustainable mobility. These models exemplify the brand’s commitment to blending electric efficiency with traditional luxury and dynamic performance.

Both versions are offered in two power levels, 220 kw and 270 kw, delivering robust performance and refined driving experiences. The new generation of high-voltage battery at the centre of  this enhancement has a capacity of 25.9 kWh (net 20.7 kWh), which is almost 45% greater than its predecessor. This improvement allows for an electric driving range of over 100 kilometres, making daily commutes virtually emission-free.

The 2.0 TFSI engine, rated at 185 kw (252 PS), is paired with a 105 kw electric motor to achieve impressive system outputs. The 270 kw models, producing 500 Nm of torque, can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, while the 220 kw versions reach the mark in 6.0 seconds. All variants cap their speed at 250 km/h.

The plug-in hybrid approach balances the usability of a combustion engine with electric efficiency. Customers can opt for either the dynamic Avant or the elegant Sedan. The Sedan’s sweeping window line lends it a sophisticated silhouette, while the Avant’s sculpted rear and aerodynamic details offer a sportier aesthetic.

The new plug-in hybrids also support faster AC charging at up to 11 kw, reducing full charge times to just 2.5 hours. Enhanced recuperation capabilities allow drivers to adjust energy recovery levels via steering wheel paddles, promoting both range optimisation and driving customisation. The vehicles use GPS data to autonomously recover energy, whether or not they have route assistance.

Complementing the performance is Audi’s quattro ultra all-wheel-drive system and standard all-wheel steering, which boost agility at low speeds and stability at high speeds. Improved insulation and soundproofing—up to 30% better than previous models—create a quieter, more comfortable cabin environment.

In Germany, the A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro starts at 68,300 euros, while the A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro, with a system output of 220 kw, starts at 65,800 euros. The two top-of-the-line models come with particularly sporty standard equipment, including wider wheels, sports suspension, interior and exterior S line equipment and red brake callipers. With the greater power level of 270 kW, the Sedan and Avant have starting prices of 75,050 euros and 77,550 euros, respectively.

By launching the new Audi A6 plug-in hybrid vehicles, the company is demonstrating its ability to combine cutting-edge technology, elegant design, and sustainable performance. Offering longer electric range, faster charging, and a refined driving experience, these hybrids position Audi at the forefront of electrified executive mobility.
