UK, 16 June 2025: Suzuki has stepped into the electric vehicle market with the unveiling of its first fully electric SUV, the E Vitara, in the United Kingdom. The launch represents a significant advancement in the automaker’s electrification plans and underlines Suzuki’s rising stature in global EV manufacturing, as the UK-destined units are produced at the Suzuki Motor facility in Hansalpur.
The E Vitara is offered in two variants, Motion and Ultra, each featuring a unique battery setup. The entry-level Motion trim comes with a 49 kWh battery and carries a price tag of £29,999. On the other hand, the premium Ultra AllGrip-e model is equipped with a larger 61 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, priced at £37,799.
The model is built on Suzuki’s newly developed HEARTECT-e electric vehicle platform, utilising lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells and an integrated eAxle for smooth power delivery. Dimensionally, the E Vitara measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase firmly placing it within the compact SUV segment.
Performance varies based on battery and drivetrain. The 49 kWh variant delivers 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque, offering a 346 km range (WLTP-certified). The 61 kWh version offers two setups: a single-motor 2WD model with a range of 428 km, and a dual-motor AWD version delivering 178 bhp, 300 Nm of torque, and 412 km of range.
Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up for a domestic launch of the E Vitara by September 2025. The 49 kWh option is being considered to cater to a broader customer base. Despite ongoing global supply constraints, especially related to rare earth materials, the company aims to produce 67,000 units by the end of FY2025–26, with a large share designated for export to Europe and Japan.
Additionally, the E Vitara is set to serve as the foundation for Toyota’s upcoming Urban Cruiser EV, which will share the same electric drivetrain and platform architecture, reflecting deepening cooperation between the two Japanese automakers.
With the launch of the E-Vitara, Suzuki has taken a bold step into the global EV arena, combining its manufacturing strength with Japanese engineering and global ambition. The E Vitara is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping Maruti Suzuki’s electric future. Despite near-term production challenges, the model’s competitive pricing, solid range, and international demand position it as a strong contender in the compact electric SUV segment, both in domestic and export markets.
