Germany, June 24, 2025: Mercedes-Benz Vans has confirmed the delivery of nearly 5,000 fully electric vehicles to Amazon's Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) across Europe, marking the company’s largest-ever single order of electric vans. This significant fleet expansion further solidifies a long-standing partnership aimed at driving sustainable last-mile logistics across key European markets.
The newly commissioned electric fleet is made up of three-quarters eSprinter vans and one-quarter eVito panel vans, both of which are tailored to meet the complex demands of the courier, express, and parcel (CEP) industry. Over 2,500 vehicles will be delivered in Germany alone, with the rest distributed across four other European countries in the coming months. Amazon projects that the new EV fleet will contribute to delivering more than 200 million parcels per year.
This delivery expands on Amazon’s earlier purchase of 1,800 electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, made in 2020. The collaboration underscores the growing role of electrification in Amazon's global transportation network and is closely aligned with the company’s climate goals under The Climate Pledge, which Mercedes-Benz joined in 2020.
In an official press release by Mercedes‑Benz, Sagree Sardien, Head of Sales & Marketing, Mercedes‑Benz Vans, stated, “I am delighted that we are further intensifying our long-standing relationship with Amazon and are working together towards the fully electric future of transportation. The courier, express, and parcel service industry once again proves to be a key driver of electromobility. Our eVito and eSprinter are perfectly tailored to meet the demands of our commercial customers regarding efficiency and range. They demonstrate that locally CO₂-emission-free driving, impressive performance, comfort, and low operating costs can be perfectly combined."
In the same press release, Neil Emery, Director, Global Fleet & Product, Amazon, stated, “This deployment of 5,000 electric delivery vans further underscores our work to reduce carbon emissions in our operations. From electric bikes to vans to trucks and infrastructure, we are well on our way to transforming our transportation network. We look forward to continuing to work with Mercedes‑Benz to enable even faster electrification and decarbonisation across Europe.”
The eVito and eSprinter are purpose-built for efficient, sustainable commercial use. The eVito, produced in Vitoria, Spain, offers up to 480 km (WLTP) of range with 90 kWh or 60 kWh battery options and motors rated at 150 kW or 85 kW. Both models include MBUX infotainment, Electric Intelligence navigation, advanced safety features, and support seamless charging via the MB. CHARGE Public service.
As Mercedes-Benz Vans celebrates 30 years of the Vito and Sprinter models in 2025, this order reflects the brand’s evolution from internal combustion engines to cutting-edge electric mobility. The vehicles maintain their hallmark utility while offering zero local emissions and lower operating costs, aligning with the next chapter in commercial transport.
With the demand for low-emission logistics solutions growing, this milestone reinforces both companies’ commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable delivery. With advanced EVs like the eVito and eSprinter now forming the backbone of Amazon’s regional fleets, the future of logistics is not just electric, it’s already arriving.
