MINI, the British car-maker, has globally launched the Cooper SE Convertible, which is the first all-electric convertible model. However, for the time being, only 999 units of this first-ever drop-top electric vehicle will be made available, with the majority being sold in the European market. Mini plans to sell these limited units from April 2023.

The Cooper SE Convertible is said to be the first zero-emission premium convertible EV in the small car segment. It comes in two exterior colours; Enigmatic Black and White Silver. The handles, side scuttles, as well as the surrounds of both the front and rear lights are coated in Resolute Bronze, and the MINI logo and model lettering are featured in Piano Black.

According to the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) cycle, the Mini SE convertible retains the same powertrain as that of its hardtop counterpart but can now achieve a claimed electric range of up to 201 km. It is equipped with a 1335 kW electric motor, capable of producing 184 bhp and a peak torque of 270 Nm. The automaker claims that the electric vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. Although the exact battery size has not been revealed, it is expected that Mini will use the same 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack as its closed-top counterpart. The SE Convertible also features fast charging technology, which can charge up to 80 percent in just 2.5 hours.

The interior of the Mini SE Convertible includes heated seats with adjustable thigh support and a multifunctional sports steering wheel covered in Nappa leather. There are signature yellow accents throughout the car to highlight the electric powertrain. The vehicle is also equipped with an infotainment system, a Head-Up display, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality, and MINI Driving Assistant.

The Cooper SE is equipped with a convertible roof, featuring a Union Jack design that can be adjusted in various ways, including opening, closing, and sliding. Additionally, its 17-inch alloy wheels have a dual-tone spoke design, and the ‘’E’’ logo appears on both the front apron and rear display, highlighting its eco-friendly powertrain. To indicate its exclusivity, the open-air MINI is adorned with "1 of 999" lettering on the side scuttles and door sill trims.

The launch of the Mini Cooper SE Convertible electric vehicle marks an exciting milestone for the automobile industry. With its unique adjustable design, the Mini Cooper SE Convertible is set to impress car enthusiasts and environmentally conscious consumers across the globe.
