04 July, 2024: In a significant step towards enhancing EV infrastructure across the UK, CTEK, a Sweden-based charging specialist, has announced a collaboration with the UK’s leading parking management company, APCOA, to install state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging points in strategic locations throughout the country.

APCOA, renowned for its extensive presence in parking and urban solutions across Europe, will see the installation of CTEK's Chargestorm Connected 3 (CC3) charging stations. These units are designed to support bidirectional charging in alignment with the ISO 15118 standard, allowing vehicles equipped with suitable technology to not only charge but also potentially feed energy back into the grid for load balancing purposes.

At present, APCOA's UK car parks host more than 1000 EV charging points, and they intend to install over 300 more this year. These efforts are part of APCOA's broader strategy to integrate EV charging infrastructure into key urban locations such as rail stations, hospitals, educational institutions, and retail centres, among others.

According to a spokesperson from APCOA, this partnership plays a crucial role in their dedication to lowering emissions and improving urban traffic efficiency. By utilising advanced technologies and digital platforms such as APCOA Connect, their goal is to convert their car parks into vibrant urban centres that promote mobility, logistics, and sustainable energy solutions.

CTEK, known for its comprehensive range of EV charging solutions from individual chargers to large-scale commercial installations, emphasises grid load balancing capabilities in its products. The company previously partnered with Brighton-based EVC to supply a substantial number of chargers, further solidifying its footprint in the EV infrastructure sector.

As the demand for EVs continues to rise, initiatives like these underscore the importance of robust charging infrastructure in supporting the transition to cleaner transportation solutions. Both APCOA and CTEK are at the forefront of this transformation, driving innovation and sustainability in urban mobility. With ongoing expansions and technological advancements, the future looks promising for EV owners and environmental advocates alike, as the UK gears up for a greener automotive landscape powered by cutting-edge charging solutions.
