London, UK – 01 Oct, 2025  – The Welsh Government has announced a significant expansion of its Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP) to deliver good-quality and longer-term housing at a faster pace for people in need across Wales. The initiative is part of a strategic effort to address housing shortages and improve living standards by supporting a range of flexible housing schemes.

TACP supports varied solutions including the acquisition of existing dwellings, conversion of non-residential buildings into housing, and bringing void properties back into use. Over the past three years, more than £275 million has been invested through TACP, leading to the delivery of over 2,700 homes, notably bringing more than 930 void properties back into productive use.

In recognition of the programme’s success and continued demand, the budget for TACP has increased to £155 million in 2025, enabling hundreds of additional homes to be delivered for those most in need across Wales. This funding boost aims to accelerate the creation of housing solutions tailored to urgent requirements and varied needs.

In an official press release, Jayne Bryant, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, stated: “Our Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme is making a real difference to people’s lives, supporting a wide range of projects to deliver much needed homes that are warm, comfortable and energy efficient. This funding boost increases our TACP budget to £155 million this year, helping us to bring forward even more housing solutions for those who need them most – because everyone deserves a safe and quality place to call home.”

The additional funding will build on the programme’s achievements and focus on continued investment in acquiring properties, refurbishing existing assets, and converting underutilized buildings all with the intent to deliver quality, energy-efficient, and comfortable homes at scale for communities across Wales.

This announcement underscores the Welsh Government’s commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and sustainable housing for all, setting a positive trajectory for future housing policy and delivery in the region.
