Wolfsburg, Germany, April 09, 2025: Volkswagen Group has announced a significant acceleration in its transition to electric mobility, with a remarkable 60 percent increase in global all-electric vehicle (BEV) deliveries in the first quarter of 2025. The company’s BEV performance in Europe was particularly impressive, with deliveries more than doubling year-on-year.
In an official press release by Volkswagen Group, Marco Schubert, Member of the Group’s Extended Executive Committee for Sales, stated, “Our products are being well received and show that the Volkswagen Group is on the right track. We increased our all-electric deliveries worldwide by around 60 percent in the first quarter. In Europe in particular, we were able to significantly expand our leading position in this segment with a doubling of deliveries. The share of all-electric models in our total volume in Western Europe also doubled to around 19 percent. We have good momentum in our home region overall, which is also reflected in the 29 percent increase in incoming orders across all drive types, bringing the order book there back up to around one million vehicles. In the coming months, we expect additional tailwind from numerous newly launched models. Overall, global deliveries increased slightly until the end of March. Gains in North and South America as well as in Europe have more than compensated for the expected decline in China.”

Key Highlights:
- Global Deliveries: In the first quarter, the Volkswagen Group delivered 2.13 million vehicles globally, marking a 1.4% increase over the 2.10 million vehicles shipped during the same time previous year.
- Regional Performance: The company experienced robust growth across most regions in the first quarter of 2025. In North America, vehicle deliveries increased by 4%, while South America saw a significant surge of 17%. Western Europe recorded a steady growth of 3%, and Central and Eastern Europe posted an 8% rise. These regional gains contributed to the overall positive momentum for Volkswagen Group’s global performance.

- The global BEV percentage increased from 6 to 10%.
- Europe led the growth with a 113 percent increase in BEV deliveries, while the U.S. posted a 51 percent rise.

- Order Volume:Western Europe had a 29% increase in incoming orders, bringing the entire order book to around 980,000 vehicles.
- BEV orders alone climbed by 64 percent.
- Newly launched models such as the VW ID.7 Tourer, CUPRA Terramar, Skoda Elroq, Audi Q6 e-tron, and the Porsche 911 have been regarded favourably.
- PHEV Growth: Plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) deliveries also saw a boost, reaching 82,500 vehicles, a 15 percent increase over the same period last year. The growing appeal of second-generation PHEVs with all-electric ranges of up to 143 km contributed to this uptick in demand.
With a substantial 60% year-on-year growth in BEV deliveries, led by a remarkable 113% surge in Europe, the Volkswagen Group is not only expanding its market share but also reinforcing its leadership in the electric vehicle segment. As the Group continues to roll out innovative EV and PHEV offerings, it is well-positioned to capitalise on market trends and drive the future of sustainable mobility.
