Toyota Unveils AYGO X: A Sleek And Smart Hybrid For The Urban Landscape

UK, 1 June 2025: Toyota has taken a bold leap into the future of compact mobility with the unveiling of the all-new Aygo X Hybrid, the first full hybrid in the A-segment. Incorporating cutting-edge hybrid technology with striking design and a commitment to lowering environmental impact, the new Aygo X stands as Toyota’s most accessible electrified model yet. It also emerges as a strong new contender in the compact urban crossover segment.

Designed and produced entirely in Europe, the Aygo X Hybrid embodies Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy to carbon neutrality, extending hybrid powertrain technology to one of its smallest and most popular vehicles. With class-leading CO₂ emissions projected at just 86g/km, the Aygo X Hybrid is expected to be the cleanest non-plug-in vehicle on the market based on upcoming WLTP data.

Built on Toyota’s GA-B platform, the Aygo X Hybrid retains its iconic compact dimensions and nimble handling while introducing a powertrain already proven in the Yaris and Yaris Cross. With 114 bhp under the hood, it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in under 10 seconds, delivering a more dynamic yet efficient driving experience perfectly suited for both urban agility and open-road capability.

The Aygo X Hybrid features a cleverly integrated hybrid system, with an innovative dual battery setup beneath the rear seats and an extended front overhang that maintains the vehicle’s compact crossover proportions without sacrificing interior space. A low centre of gravity, stiffened body, and tight 4.7m turning radius enhance its urban manoeuvrability.

Visually, the Aygo X Hybrid debuts a striking new front design, with a fresh grille, updated bonnet, and new LED headlamps that reinforce its bold SUV stance. Available with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and optional two-tone bodywork inspired by “mellow spices,” including shades like Cinnamon and Tarragon, it also features Toyota’s signature Canvas roof option for a unique aesthetic edge.

Inside, the Aygo X Hybrid offers a refined blend of comfort and connectivity. A new 7-inch digital display, electronic parking brake, USB-C ports, and an optional wireless smartphone charger enhance the compact cabin’s convenience. In advanced trims, Toyota adds nanoeX air purification, better acoustic insulation, and practical storage solutions. Safety is also advanced with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, featuring Emergency Driving Stop System and Proactive Driving Assist.

Beyond performance and design, sustainability is at the heart of the new Aygo X Hybrid. Toyota projects an 18% reduction in lifetime carbon emissions compared to its predecessor, thanks to the highly efficient hybrid powertrain, eco-conscious materials like SakuraTouch (a bio-based leather alternative), and CO₂-saving production practices. Even the plant in Kolin, Czech Republic, where it is manufactured, runs on renewable electricity.

With the Aygo X Hybrid, Toyota is redefining what it means to drive green in the city. By combining cutting-edge hybrid technology, advanced safety, clever packaging, and expressive design in its most compact model yet, Toyota opens the door to sustainable urban mobility for a new generation of drivers. Arriving in the UK and other European markets by the end of 2025, the Aygo X Hybrid is more than a step forward, it’s a leap toward a smarter, cleaner, and more spirited future on the road.
