Sydney, 05 May 2025 – Tilt Renewables has officially opened the 396-MW Rye Park Wind Farm, marking a major milestone for renewable energy in New South Wales. Located in the Southern Tablelands, just north of Yass and about 280 kilometres southwest of Sydney, the project is now the state’s largest operating wind farm.

The inauguration was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, attended by Penny Sharpe, NSW Minister for Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Heritage. The event signalled the completion of a two-year construction journey that began in December 2022.

The Rye Park Wind Farm is powered by 66 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines from the company’s EnVentus platform, each operating in a 6.0 MW mode. The wind farm began feeding power into the grid in mid-2023, with the final turbines installed in April 2025.

With an annual generation capacity of around 1,188 GWh, Rye Park is expected to supply clean electricity to approximately 215,000 homes. The project’s output is largely underpinned by long-term offtake agreements: over 55% of the energy will support Newcrest Mining’s Cadia gold mine under a 15-year deal, while the remaining 45% is tied to a renewable energy certificate (REC) agreement with AGL Energy to benefit Microsoft Corporation.

This launch strengthens Tilt Renewables’ position as a key player in Australia’s clean energy transition and represents a significant step toward NSW’s renewable energy and emissions reduction targets.
