Mladá Boleslav, 22 January 2025 – Škoda Auto has marked a new milestone with the launch of series production for its all-electric Elroq at the company's principal plant in Mladá Boleslav. This compact SUV is set to redefine affordability in the electric vehicle market, rolling off a flexible assembly line alongside the updated Škoda Enyaq and the enduring Octavia. To achieve an impressive daily output of up to 600 Elroq units, part of the Octavia's production has been strategically relocated to the Kvasiny plant, demonstrating Škoda's commitment to flexibility and innovation.

Innovation in Production: The Mladá Boleslav plant stands out as the only Volkswagen Group facility in Europe capable of simultaneously producing the ICE Octavia (MQB platform) and the fully electric Enyaq (MEB platform). This unique setup allows Škoda to swiftly adjust to market demand shifts, ensuring optimal production efficiency. The plant's role extends beyond vehicle assembly, as it also manufactures battery systems for various MEB platform vehicles within the Volkswagen Group. As of December 2024, the facility reached a production milestone of one million battery systems, underscoring its pivotal role in the EV market.
Strategic Relocation and Capacity: In 2024, Škoda relocated part of the Octavia production to its Kvasiny plant to make room for the Elroq, facilitating a daily production capacity of 600 vehicles. This relocation underscores Škoda's strategic approach to optimizing its production capabilities and adapting to the growing demand for electric vehicles. The plant's ability to produce battery systems for the MEB platform vehicles not only supports the Elroq and Enyaq but also benefits other Volkswagen Group brands.
Elroq: Setting New Standards: The Škoda Elroq emerges as a strategically important model, positioned as one of the most affordable options in the European electric vehicle market. Built on the MEB platform, it shares the stage with the Enyaq, which has been a bestseller in the EV segment. The Elroq's starting price of approximately €33,000 (before state subsidies) makes it highly competitive, offering a range of up to 581 km (WLTP) and the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just 25–28 minutes, depending on the battery configuration. With three battery sizes and multiple power configurations, the Elroq is designed to meet diverse consumer needs.

Market Reception and Future Outlook: The market has responded positively to the Elroq, with over 20,000 orders placed by the end of 2024. This strong demand highlights the growing consumer preference for affordable, high-performance electric vehicles. Škoda's commitment to offering price parity with internal combustion engine counterparts in many markets further solidifies its position as a leader in the EV market. The Elroq also introduces Škoda's new Modern Solid design language, adding a fresh aesthetic appeal to its functional excellence.
Leadership Perspective: Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, in an official press release expressed his pride in the team's efforts: "The production launch of our new Elroq compact SUV at our main plant is a great accomplishment for the entire team. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their dedication in preparing for this milestone. Sharing the assembly line with its electric sibling, the new Škoda Enyaq, alongside the local production of MEB platform battery systems, creates significant synergies in production and cost efficiency, which ultimately benefits our customers. By producing this key model at our headquarters, we are reaffirming the crucial strategic role of the Mladá Boleslav plant as the heart of our brand."
The launch of the Elroq signifies Škoda Auto's continued innovation and adaptation in the evolving automotive landscape, promising a bright future for the brand and its customers.
