Internationally acclaimed, French car manufacturer Peugeot, recently announced the addition of two new all electric models to its EV lineup. The two models, e-308 and e-308 SW are currently available in the market as plug-in hybrids, but the company is going 100% electric with these two hatchbacks by mid 2023.
These all-electric models will be based on the EMP2 platform, powered by the latest electric powertrain, with a power output of 115 kW (156 bhp) paired with a new high voltage battery of 54 kWh based on NMC811 cells capable of providing a range of up to 248 miles. With a three-phase 11 kW AC charger provided with the car, it can employ a 100kW rapid DC charging, which will shoot the battery from 20-80% in 25 minutes or less.
The cars feature 3 driving modes; eco, normal and sports mode for the drivers to switch between, while driving on different terrains. Apart from this feature, the companies' official press release also boasts that the cars will come with the latest generation of driving aids to promote safe driving, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, long-range blind spot monitoring (75 metres) and Rear Traffic Alert, which warns of danger when reversing.
Towards the interiors of the cars, both models are equipped with the company’s latest generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® with a sturdy steering wheel, a digital head-up display, along with a central 10-inch infotainment system. The cars also feature the latest i-Connect® for seamless connectivity and an overall intuitive and rewarding experience.
Other design elements are quite similar to the already available hybrid models with one major change being the large 18 inch wheels in the all electric models giving them a bolder look. Although there were no announcements regarding the prices for the models, the company did reveal that the e-308 will be available for purchase entirely online in some countries. With these developments, the company is in line with its aim to offer every vehicle in its range with an electrified variant by 2025.
