UK, 24 July 2025: Nissan has teamed up with Octopus Energy, the UK’s leading energy provider, to roll out the next-generation Nissan Charge app. This collaboration represents a major milestone in Nissan’s commitment to creating smarter, more seamless digital solutions for electric vehicle (EV) owners.
With the integration of Octopus’s award-winning Electroverse charging network, Nissan drivers now have access to over 1 million charging points spanning more than 1,200 operators. The updated app, available on both major app stores, offers a smoother, faster, and more intuitive experience, giving EV drivers complete control over their charging journey.
Adding around 500 new chargers every day, the app’s robust discovery tool allows users to find real-time charger availability, apply filters for speed and connector type, and access exclusive rates across partner networks. Its streamlined interface makes account setup effortless, with drivers able to request a free Nissan Charge card in just minutes. Built on Octopus Electroverse’s cutting-edge platform, the app is designed for both daily commutes and long-distance journeys, offering features like live dynamic pricing insights to help drivers manage and reduce charging costs effectively.
In an official press release by Nissan, Soufiane El Khomri, Director at Nissan Energy, stated, “The new Nissan Charge app is an important step in our mission to make electric driving seamless and accessible. By introducing future-ready features, we’re not only helping drivers connect to Europe’s vast charging network, but we’re also laying the foundation for EVs to play an active role in the energy system of tomorrow. It aligns perfectly with our electrification journey, from our EV36Zero initiative to the exciting arrival of our next-generation models like the all-new MICRA and LEAF.”
This app upgrade is part of a larger vision to integrate public charging into MyNissan, the company’s holistic mobility and energy platform. Upcoming updates will include Plug & Charge (PnC) for seamless and secure charging and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, enabling EVs to feed energy back into the grid and help reduce home charging costs.
In the same press release, Matt Davies, Director at Octopus Electroverse, stated, “For the first time, Electroverse's technology has been integrated into another brand’s charging app, and we’re thrilled to see that debut with Nissan. “As EVs become mainstream, drivers want a charging experience as smart as their vehicle. By bringing our cutting-edge technology into the Nissan Charge app, we’re delivering the best of Electroverse – simple access to 80% of all chargers across Europe, money-saving discounts, and quick, hassle-free payments. It’s great to see Nissan embracing Electroverse’s technology to make charging simpler, smarter, and ready for their customers.”
The launch of the enhanced Nissan Charge app, powered by Octopus Electroverse, is more than just a tech upgrade – it represents a pivotal shift in the EV ownership experience. By offering a unified, easy-to-use platform with access to a vast charging network and forward-looking features like V2G and Plug & Charge, Nissan is redefining convenience for EV drivers across Europe. As the EV market grows, collaborations like this set the tone for a smarter, cleaner, and more connected future for mobility.
