Germany, 03 June 2025: Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio is stepping up its efforts to expand across Europe, with plans to enter seven additional countries, including the UK, as a part of its broader global growth strategy. Currently active in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, the company is now targeting Austria and Hungary by the end of this year, followed by Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic in 2026.

To support this expansion, Nio is forming strong local partnerships. Autowallis, a mobility provider based in Hungary, will handle distribution in Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic. In Belgium and Luxembourg, Hedin Mobility Group, a seasoned automotive partner in Europe, will manage sales efforts.

In an official press release by Nio Europe, Thijs Meijling, Head of Nio Europe, stated, “Europe is a core pillar of our global strategy and a region where we see tremendous potential for smart, user-centric mobility. With these seven new countries, we are entering strategically important markets that are ready for sustainable innovation.

Thijs Meijling further added that, “Our expansion follows a clear principle: we focus on markets where our integrated service and product landscape can unfold its full potential and deliver tangible value to users. With a scalable business model driven by digital innovation and a multi-brand portfolio that addresses both premium and urban segments, we are setting new standards for what smart mobility in Europe can be – intelligent, flexible, and built around users’ needs.”

Nio’s expansion strategy emphasises not just presence but performance. The company will introduce its flagship EL6 and EL8 electric SUVs, the ET5 sedan, and the ET5 Touring variant in all seven new markets. Moreover, Nio plans to roll out its affordable Firefly brand across the newly announced markets, beginning with an initial launch in Norway and the Netherlands scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.

The multi-brand portfolio allows Nio to cater to a broader range of customer needs, from premium experiences to accessible urban mobility, supported by a digitally driven, user-focused business model. Unlike some competitors, Nio is committed to a comprehensive ecosystem of products and services, enhancing the ownership experience with innovations like battery swapping and intelligent in-car features.

Nio also plans to strengthen its direct sales and service infrastructure in its existing European markets, ensuring consistent support and quality across its growing user base. Looking ahead, Nio’s focused expansion signals strong momentum.

By combining high-quality EVs, digital innovation, and strategic local partnerships, the company is well-positioned to thrive in Europe’s competitive electric mobility market. Backed by a clear strategic vision and a firm dedication to the European market, Nio is steering boldly toward the future of eco-friendly mobility.
