Mitsubishi Motors Set to Debut All-New Electric Eclipse Cross This September

Netherlands, 13 May 2025: Mitsubishi Motors Europe has announced the upcoming debut of its next-generation, fully electric Eclipse Cross SUV, scheduled for reveal in September 2025. Designed specifically for the European market, this new battery electric vehicle represents a significant step in the brand’s electrification strategy and will join Mitsubishi’s growing portfolio of SUVs.

The new Eclipse Cross is set to enter production with a long-range version slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2025, followed by a mid-range model arriving in 2026. Targeting the competitive C-segment SUV class, it will complement Mitsubishi’s forthcoming Grandis and the newly launched Outlander PHEV, further strengthening the company’s position in Europe’s key automotive segment.

This marks Mitsubishi’s return to the European electric vehicle market since the 2010 release of the i-MiEV, which was the first BEV to enter series production by a mainstream car manufacturer. The new Eclipse Cross highlights Mitsubishi’s commitment to offering a full spectrum of drivetrain technologies in Europe, from hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and now full battery electric vehicles.

Mitsubishi Motors is reinforcing its commitment to the European market with a refreshed, SUV-focused lineup that spans a variety of powertrain technologies. Leading the lineup is the COLT, a compact B-segment hatchback offered with both traditional and hybrid powertrain choices, catering to diverse driving preferences.

Mitsubishi is introducing two key models, the Grandis, available with ICE and HEV drivetrains, and the upcoming Eclipse Cross, which will be the brand’s first battery electric vehicle in Europe since 2010. At the top of the lineup is the Outlander PHEV, a D-segment SUV equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, underscoring the brand’s commitment to offering a broad spectrum of electrified mobility solutions.

Eclipse Cross signifies its reforming technology. Styled under the direction of Mitsubishi Motors Europe Design near Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the vehicle sports a bold and futuristic appearance, highlighted by the evolution of Mitsubishi’s iconic “Dynamic Shield” front fascia.

Production of the next-generation Eclipse Cross will take place at the Electricity facility in Douai, France. This European manufacturing approach supports Mitsubishi’s strategic objective of reinforcing its footprint in the region while tailoring its product offerings to better meet local market demands.

The upcoming Eclipse Cross also represents a significant milestone in Mitsubishi’s re-entry into the European EV market, ushering in a refreshed direction for the brand’s regional strategy. With advanced features, multiple drivetrain options, and a design that reflects its EV focus, the new Eclipse Cross is poised to meet the evolving demands of European consumers. Its launch represents not just a new model, but a pivotal step toward a more electrified and sustainable future for Mitsubishi Motors in Europe.
