MG Rolls Out £1,500 Boost for EV Buyers in UK

21 July 2025, London: In a bold move to accelerate the UK’s electric revolution, MG Motor UK has introduced a new initiative of a £1,500 grant for buyers of its popular MG4 EV and MG5 EV models. This initiative highlights MG’s dedication to expanding access to electric mobility through affordability, further strengthening its reputation as a frontrunner in the UK’s electric vehicle landscape.

The new MG grant will apply exclusively to private purchases and comes in addition to any incentives currently offered by MG’s 155 UK dealer partners, ensuring customers receive the maximum value possible when transitioning to battery electric vehicles.

In an official press release by MG Motor, Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director for MG Motor UK, stated, “MG has been a key contributor to the EV sector, consistently recognising the economic and environmental benefits of introducing a wide range of affordable, electric-only models. Today’s announcement underlines this commitment and in addition to this, we will also seek to work constructively with the Government to further increase the sale of EVs.”

The company expressed strong support for the Government’s Electric Car Grant, emphasising that increased EV adoption is central to achieving Net Zero goals. The £1,500 MG grant applies to two of the UK’s most popular electric vehicles, the MG4 EV, known for its dynamic performance and value, and the MG5 EV, the UK’s only fully electric estate car.

This initiative reinforces MG’s position as a leader in the UK EV market. In 2024, MG captured a 4.18% market share, ranking as the 10th best-selling automotive brand in the country. With a fast-growing network of 156 dealer partners and a customer-first approach that includes a 7-year/80,000-mile warranty, MG is setting new benchmarks for affordable, sustainable motoring.

MG’s continued success is built on a strong foundation of UK-based innovation, led by its dedicated engineering team in the West Midlands and the cutting-edge Marylebone Advanced Design Studio. Together, they play a pivotal role in shaping the brand’s future, with recent milestones including the development of the all-electric, performance-driven MG Cyberster, a bold symbol of MG’s next-generation design and technology ambitions.

With this latest grant initiative, MG Motor UK not only reinforces its role as a champion of affordable electric mobility but also aligns itself closely with the nation’s climate ambitions. By combining competitive pricing, a growing dealer network, and a strong engineering presence in the UK, MG continues to lead the charge towards a cleaner and more inclusive era of electric mobility.
