Mercedes-AMG Introduces High-Performance Electric GT XX Concept

Germany, June 25, 2025: Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, a fully electric high-performance prototype delivering over 1,000 kW of power. Built on the dedicated AMG.EA platform, the four-door CONCEPT GT XX previews a production model expected in 2026, signaling the beginning of a new era in electric performance for Mercedes-AMG. With its sleek design and cutting-edge technology, the concept serves as a bold statement of AMG’s all-electric future. At the core of the GT XX are three advanced axial flux motors, two integrated into a rear High Performance Electric Drive Unit and one at the front for additional boost. Co-developed with British electric motor specialist YASA, these compact, high-efficiency motors deliver sustained high output, exceptional torque density, and top speeds exceeding 360 km/h, surpassing the capabilities of conventional motor designs.

The concept is equipped with an 800V High Performance Electric Battery (HP.EB) that incorporates over 3,000 NCMA cylindrical cells, silicon-based anodes, and a direct oil cooling system, achieving an energy density of up to 300 Wh/kg at the cell level. Charging capacity surpasses 850 kW, enabling a theoretical 400 km recharge in 5 minutes.

Aerodynamic innovations include a 0.198 drag coefficient, active underbody and airbrake systems, and AMG’s debut of Bluetooth-controlled Aero Wheels with dynamic blades for cooling and drag management. The chassis combines aluminium, steel, and composites for strength and weight efficiency.

Inside, the GT XX blends motorsport and tech, featuring LABFIBER Biotech Leather made from recycled GT3 tyres, MBUX powered by MB.OS, and a 700-LED rear Fluid Light Panel for external communication.

In an official press release by Mercedes-Benz, Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Mercedes-Maybach, stated, “The CONCEPT AMG GT XX is the next milestone in the history of AMG and forges a whole new dimension of performance. We’re bringing groundbreaking technology that redefines high performance. And the best thing is that this car is a true AMG with every fibre of its being.

“The heart of an AMG was always the motor, and that will remain so with our in-house electric architecture. With our high-tech axial flux motor, we’re delivering a revolutionary new drive that is unparalleled in terms of power density, weight, and packaging. This pairs with a new performance battery developed from scratch that enables a previously unimagined level of performance and endurance.”

Developed across AMG’s global R&D hubs, including support from F1 powertrain experts in Brixworth, the GT XX demonstrates Mercedes-AMG’s commitment to innovation and sustainability at the highest level of performance.

The CONCEPT AMG GT XX is more than an innovative design, but it signals Mercedes-AMG’s strategic shift toward high-performance electrification. With next-generation motor technology, Formula 1-derived battery systems, and advanced aerodynamics, AMG is laying the groundwork for an electric future that doesn’t compromise on power, emotion, or brand identity. As production approaches in 2026, the GT XX stands as a benchmark for what electric performance can and will become.
