05 June, 2024: Lucid Motors has commenced the shipment of the first Saudi Arabia-made Lucid Air luxurious sedans from its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Rabigh. This milestone marks a significant step forward for the EV maker as it expands its presence in the Gulf region.

The shipment, comprising 350 vehicles, signifies a pivotal moment for Lucid Motors, highlighting its commitment to revolutionising the automotive landscape with cutting-edge electric vehicles. This move underscores the company's dedication to sustainable transportation and its strategic focus on the Middle East market.

Last week, Lucid Motors further solidified its foothold in the region with the inauguration of a new showroom at Dubai’s City Walk, bolstering its presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This expansion comes on the heels of the successful launch of the Riyadh Studio in late 2022, marking Lucid Motors' initial foray into the Middle East retail space.

The first shipment of Saudi-made Lucid Air sedans is destined for the UAE and other Gulf countries, signalling the broader reach of Lucid's innovative EVs in the region. Currently, Lucid Motors' AMP-2 facility is engaged in semi knocked-down (SKD) assembly, with an annual capacity to assemble 5,000 cars. This process entails assembling Lucid Air vehicle kits that were pre-manufactured at the company’s AMP-1 Manufacturing Facility in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Looking to the future, Lucid Motors has ambitious plans to transition the AMP-2 facility to complete build unit (CBU) production after the middle of the decade, significantly boosting its capacity. The plant is poised to achieve an additional annual capacity of 150,000 cars, elevating the total production capacity of the KAEC facility to an impressive 155,000 electric vehicles per year.

With its innovative technology and commitment to sustainability, Lucid Motors continues to drive the evolution of the automotive industry, paving the way for a greener and more efficient future on the roads of the Gulf region and beyond.
