Frankfurt, 11 June 2025: Kia has officially introduced its all-electric PV5 Passenger minibus in Germany, marking the latest phase of its European expansion following earlier launches in the UK and France. This five-seat electric MPV is the first vehicle built on Kia’s next-generation PBV architecture, derived from the evolved E-GMP.S platform, designed specifically for scalable electric mobility.
Starting at €38,290 in Germany, the PV5 Passenger is now open for orders with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2025. The cargo version, which has been available since late May, is priced at approximately €33,000. In France, the passenger model starts slightly higher at €39,550, with early deliveries expected by October. For buyers seeking extended range, a higher-capacity battery version is available from €43,550. Meanwhile, UK customers can pre-order both the Passenger and Cargo variants, with pricing from £32,995 and just under £28,000 respectively. Although the UK configuration tool is not live yet, first deliveries are projected for Q4 2025.
In an official press release by Kia, Thomas Djuren, Managing Director of Kia Germany, stated, "Our innovative light commercial vehicles, suitable for both private and commercial customers, combine the clean efficiency of an electric drive with the unprecedented flexibility of Kia's groundbreaking PBV architecture. We therefore see great potential in this new business area, also because the demand for customized products is growing. With their wide range of variants, the Kia PV5 Passenger, like the PV5 Cargo, will be an exciting alternative to the well-known market leaders in their segment. Especially since customers benefit from Kia's many years of experience and high level of expertise in the field of electromobility."
Across all markets, the PV5 is offered with two battery configurations: a 51.5 kWh pack with a WLTP-rated range of 288 km, and a larger 71.2 kWh battery capable of delivering up to 400 km. With fast-charging capabilities, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in only 30 minutes under optimal conditions.
Measuring 4.7 metres in length, the PV5 boasts a spacious and user-friendly interior, featuring a flat floor, low entry points, and dual electric sliding doors. Depending on the layout, it offers a maximum boot capacity of 2,300 litres and a towing capability of up to 1.5 tonnes, setting it apart in its class.
The model is available in three trims: Essential, Plus, and Elite. Even the entry-level trim includes premium features such as LED headlights, a 12.8-inch infotainment system running Android Automotive OS, adaptive cruise control, and seven airbags. Upgraded trims provide amenities like vehicle-to-load support, 360-degree cameras, ventilated seats, and a digital key function that transforms your smartphone or smartwatch into a car key.
All PV5 versions are equipped with over-the-air update capability, full smartphone integration, and access to Kia’s connected services and app ecosystem. The platform also supports upcoming V2X technologies, including vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home functionalities, making the PV5 future-ready for broader energy applications.
With its innovative platform, versatile features, and robust range options, Kia’s PV5 Passenger positions itself as a compelling choice for both private owners and commercial fleets. As the company continues to scale its electric offerings across Europe, the PV5 reflects Kia’s commitment to practical, forward-looking mobility solutions tailored for the evolving EV landscape.
