HoloSolis, a fast-growing French solar manufacturer dedicated to strengthening Europe’s clean-energy landscape, has raised over €220 million in combined public and private funding to develop a major solar gigafactory in Sarreguemines-Hambach, located in France’s Grand Est region.

This major investment will advance the final design of the facility, support the rollout of cutting-edge TOPCon solar cell technology, and help establish a resilient and competitive European photovoltaic supply chain. Once fully operational by 2030, the site is projected to create approximately 2,000 high-quality jobs and produce up to 5 GW of solar capacity annually, enough to supply renewable energy to 1 million households across Europe.

Founded in 2022 by EIT InnoEnergy, IDEC Group, and TSE, HoloSolis was created to anchor solar manufacturing within Europe and champion a low-carbon, sustainable production model. The project aligns closely with the goals of the EU’s Net Zero Industry Act, which encourages scaling up domestic clean technology manufacturing across the continent.

At the heart of the factory’s production line will be Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology, an advanced, high-efficiency solar cell solution known for superior energy output, durability, and reduced carbon footprint during manufacturing. This innovation positions HoloSolis as a standout player within the European market, delivering solar modules that are entirely designed and assembled in Europe with streamlined logistics and robust supply security.

To further accelerate innovation, HoloSolis has also established a strategic collaboration with Trina Solar, one of the world’s leading photovoltaic manufacturers. Under this partnership, the company gains access to top-tier research, global expertise, and technology advancements while preserving full European oversight, engineering, and environmental standards.

Looking ahead, HoloSolis aims to evolve into a complete photovoltaic ecosystem, integrating circular manufacturing, advanced recycling systems, and low-carbon production practices across the entire lifecycle of its solar modules.

Karine Vernier, CEO of InnoEnergy France, says, “HoloSolis embodies the ambition we have had since day one: a strong and sovereign European solar industry. Seeing this project reach a decisive milestone with more than €200 million secured is a source of immense pride for InnoEnergy, a long-standing investor committed to the energy transition.”
