CRAIOVA, Romania, 14 March 2025 – Ford has launched volume production of three new electric vehicles – the Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier, and E-Transit Courier – at its Craiova, Romania plant. These models are now being delivered to customers and showrooms across Europe, making electric driving more accessible and affordable for both private and commercial users.
Each new vehicle offers versatility and practicality:
Puma Gen-E – A compact crossover delivering zero-emission driving with Ford’s best-selling model in Europe. It retains the fun-to-drive character and distinctive design that customers love.
E-Tourneo Courier – A multi-activity vehicle featuring a bold design, spacious interior, and advanced connectivity, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.
E-Transit Courier – A compact van with up to 300 km of range, 700 kg payload, and 25% more load space than its predecessor, designed to meet the needs of modern businesses.
These additions join Ford’s growing electric lineup, including the Mustang Mach-E, Ford Explorer, and E-Transit models, further strengthening its presence in the European EV market.
In an official press release by Ford, Jon Williams, General Manager, Ford Blue and Model e, Europe stated, “Ford has been on an incredible journey, from introducing our first EV in Europe to now offering a broad range of electric cars and commercial vehicles.” He further added, “The Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier, and E-Transit Courier expand our portfolio, providing options that suit the needs of both private and business customers.”
Ford Otosan’s Craiova plant plays a key role in this expansion. The facility incorporates cutting-edge production techniques and sustainability initiatives, including photovoltaic panels and an advanced logistics hub, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. The electric drive units for these vehicles are produced at Ford’s Halewood facility in the UK, while essential components come from the company’s Cologne plant, demonstrating Ford’s commitment to sustainable and efficient manufacturing.
