Canoo Expands UK Presence with New Hub for Electric Vans

24 September, 2024: Canoo Inc., a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially launched its commercial operations in the UK, marking a significant step in its global expansion efforts. The establishment of Canoo Technologies UK Limited will enable the company to meet the increasing demand in the UK’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) market.

Located at Bicester Motion, the new hub will allow customers to experience Canoo’s right-hand drive electric vans firsthand. This strategic move comes as the UK leads the charge in EV adoption, supported by ambitious zero-emission vehicle mandates.

Canoo’s entry into the UK reflects its commitment to sustainability and innovation in mobility solutions. By positioning itself at Bicester Motion, a site renowned for automotive advancements, Canoo aligns itself with the UK’s targets for zero-emission vehicles. The facility will serve not only as a space for test drives but also as a base for further expansion into European markets.

The UK’s favourable regulatory environment, including incentives such as the Plug-in Van Grant (PIVG), makes it an attractive market for Canoo’s commercial electric vans. The company plans to adopt a customer-centric approach, collaborating with fleet operators and government entities to tailor its offerings to diverse business needs.

Leading this expansion is Tony Aquila, Canoo’s Executive Chairman and CEO, who has a proven track record in the UK for creating jobs and generating significant revenue through previous ventures. With this new initiative, Canoo aims to capitalise on the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.

The UK operation is expected to launch in October 2024, further enhancing Canoo’s global presence and advancing its mission to deliver cutting-edge electric mobility solutions.
