UK's roadmap to recovery going ahead as planned

London, April 5, 2021

The UK's next step of easing the lockdown is moving forward as planned after the Prime Minister confirmed the roadmap is on track in a press conference delivered on 5th April at Downing Street.

Here are some latest updates:

  • Significant parts of the indoor economy and further outdoor settings will reopen from 12th April, after data confirmed the government’s “four tests” for easing Covid restrictions had been met.
  • The government aims to give all adults at least one shot of the vaccine by July, and hopes that a combination of vaccination and mass testing will allow indoor socialising and large-scale events to return.
  • COVID passports will likely become a feature of our lives, the government has said, following a review into status certification. The government has said a system of certification could have an important role to play both domestically and internationally, as a temporary measure.
  • A traffic-light system for countries based on infection and vaccination levels will be used for international travel.

The final step of the roadmap is earmarked for 21 June, when all limits on social contact are set to be lifted.
