#PTS: Could you share your insights on the most significant emerging trends in the proptech and construction technology sector, and how do you see these trends shaping the industry's future in terms of sustainability and innovation?
Mr Humam: The real estate and construction industry is currently undergoing a significant transformation, driven by technology, innovation, and sustainability principles. In the PropTech sector, the collaboration between established corporate players and innovative startups has become a crucial factor in driving change. This collaboration not only brings new solutions to the forefront but also inspires the sector to adapt, embrace innovation, and prioritise sustainability like never before. PropTech, with its cloud applications, real-time sensors, and data analysis, provides insights into energy usage, infrastructure failures, and other features, enabling developers to focus on sustainable real estate practices right from the construction stage. The PropTech sector is leading the way in the evolution towards sustainable practices and innovative technology, emphasising industry collaboration, policy integration, and the incorporation of renewable energy sources into building design and operations.
In the ConTech sector, there has historically been less attention compared to the more "mainstream" forms of PropTech. However, there is a growing emphasis on construction technology, with a recent report indicating that over 50% of PropTech seeks to address sales and leasing issues, while only 16% focuses on construction. The ConTech sector is witnessing a rising interest in technological innovation to optimise construction processes, supply chains, and fulfilment, with a focus on material reuse, circular economy solutions, and user-centric technologies, reshaping industry standards. Additionally, ConTech is driving the integration of sustainable practices into construction, such as the implementation of intelligent energy management systems to ensure optimal resource usage.
#PTS: Can you tell us how can technology contribute to eco-friendly and sustainable solutions in the construction industry?
Mr Humam: The pivotal role of technology in driving environmentally friendly and sustainable practices within the construction industry is underscored by the ConTech sector's innovative software solutions. Construction software, for instance, plays a crucial role in providing valuable insights into energy usage, infrastructure, and other aspects, empowering developers to prioritise sustainable real estate practices from the outset of construction. The ConTech industry's emphasis on collaboration, policy integration, and the incorporation of renewable energy sources into building design and operations is essential in addressing the pressing need for sustainable solutions to mitigate climate change and create a greener future. Furthermore, the use of advanced modelling tools and Building Information Modeling (BIM) significantly reduces carbon emissions during construction and optimises building design for energy efficiency and resource conservation. The adoption of green construction technologies, including biodegradable materials and water-efficient processes, contributes to reducing environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable and eco-friendly future for the real estate and construction industry
