Al Ghurair and Mitsubishi Chemical Infratec Launch ALPOLIC Facility in RAK

April 24, 2024: AG Metal Industries (AGMI), a new ALPOLIC manufacturing facility established in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), has been inaugurated in the presence and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

This venture marks a significant milestone in the longstanding partnership between Al Ghurair, one of the largest diversified family business groups in the UAE, and Mitsubishi Chemical Infratec Co (MCIT). AGMI is projected to become the first facility of its kind outside the direct ownership of the ALPOLIC brand, reflecting the evolution of their partnership.

The collaboration between these companies has flourished over five decades, with Al Ghurair serving as the exclusive distributor for various Mitsubishi Group products in the UAE. This includes notable partnerships such as Al Ghurair's distribution of Mitsubishi Electric Elevators and its authorisation as a partner for Climaveneta air conditioning units from Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems. Additionally, since 1993, Al Ghurair has held exclusive distribution rights for ALPOLIC, achieving excellence in project delivery through a collaborative "sell and build" approach. With an acute awareness of the evolving needs within the construction industry, Al Ghurair has positioned the newly established facility as an ALPOLIC Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with distribution rights across the UAE. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the facility boasts the capability to annually produce 4 million square metres of aluminium composite panels, 17,000 metric tonnes of coated coils, and 1 million square metres of fire-retardant core.

John Iossifidis, Group CEO, Al Ghurair, said in the company’s press release, "We are proud to deepen our ties with our long-standing partner Mitsubishi Chemical Infratec Co, Ltd (MCIT), as we aim to establish AG Metal Industries here in the UAE. This will be the only independent ALPOLIC production facility in the world, which allows us to bring the renowned MCIT expertise and quality even closer to our customers. Together, we are confident in our collective ability to shape the future of manufacturing in the UAE, through a shared commitment to quality, efficiency, and outstanding customer care."

Tadashi Kusumoto, Business Vice President, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, added, “This venture marks a significant development in our relationship with Al Ghurair, a partnership that has endured for over five decades. By establishing this state-of-the-art facility in Ras Al Khaimah, we are bringing leading ALPOLIC technology and the highest quality products to the UAE, further serving the needs of the UAE’s construction sector.”As the global demand for advanced construction materials continues to rise, the collaboration between Al Ghurair and Mitsubishi Chemical Infratec stands as a testament to the power of strategic partnerships in driving industry-leading solutions and shaping the future of construction.
